Spring (March - May)
- Inspect outdoor faucets and hose bibs. Check for drips, cracks, or low water pressure.
- Test your sprinkler system. Look for broken heads, misaligned spray patterns, and leaks at connections.
- Check your water heater. Spring is the perfect time for an annual flush and inspection.
- Clean gutters and downspouts. Spring rains can cause backups if your drainage is clogged.
Summer (June - August)
- Watch your water bill. A sudden spike often indicates a hidden leak.
- Monitor your sewer line. Tree roots are most aggressive during dry months.
- Be careful with your garbage disposal. Never put grease, fibrous vegetables, or fruit pits down the disposal.
Fall (September - November)
- Locate your main water shut-off valve. Make sure it turns freely and everyone knows where it is.
- Insulate exposed pipes. Even in LA, pipes in unheated garages and attics can be vulnerable.
- Schedule a professional inspection. Fall is the ideal time to catch small problems.
Winter (December - February)
- Protect pipes during cold nights. Let faucets drip slightly on cold-facing walls.
- Know the signs of a slab leak. Warm spots on the floor, running water sounds when nothing is on.
- Holiday drain care. Use sink strainers, dispose of grease in a container, never the drain.
